Sokoto – Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State on Saturday disclosed plans by his administration to resuscitate the Triumph Newspapers.
Ganduje spoke in Sokoto at a media parley on the sidelines of a three-day retreat for All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders in the state.
The newspaper was closed down by the immediate former governor of the state, Rabiu Kwankwaso.
“We are all aware that running government media is no longer profitable and that was what affected the newspaper.
“The outfit was established by our late political icon in Kano state, Alhaji Abubakar Rimi, our former Governor.
“So, we will do whatever it takes to bring the newspaper back to the streets in his honour.
“This is also to help us in further enlightening the populace on the people-oriented policies and programmes of this administration.”
On the retreat, Ganduje said it was organized to reposition the party for better service delivery.
The governor lamented that political parties in the country usually “go into exile” after elections.
“This is not supposed to be so and this is what we want to change in Kano.
“The political party is the backbone of democracy, just as internal democracy and party supremacy are also crucial,” Ganduje added.
