Obaseki-Oshiomhole
By Simon Ebegbulem
Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s alleged plans to enthrone a reliable successor could well be threatened by the overflow of developments in the Edo State House of Assembly. Esan political leaders in the governor’s APC, according to sources, are peeved by the governor’s failure to restore the former speaker of the state House of Assembly, Victor Edoror to office, a development that saw the speakership being moved from their zone to Edo South Senatorial zone.
On account of what they perceived as their political marginalisation the political leaders from the region say they would spite the governor by supporting a rival candidate to Mr. Godwin Obaseki, generally acknowledged as being the governor’s chosen aspirant.
The anger of the Esan people was further stoked when they also lost out in the opportunity to produce the next Vice Chancellor of the Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma.
Vanguard learnt that efforts by APC leaders from Edo Central to persuade lawmakers to return Edoror so as to balance the political tripod in the state failed.
However, Vanguard learnt that there are plans by some powerful APC leaders in the area to jettison Obaseki and back a rival aspirant in the forthcoming primaries of the party.
