UGHELLI—SEVEN persons, including two women, were on Sunday confirmed dead as the commercial vehicle they were travelling in rammed into a faulty lorry parked along the East-West Road, killing seven of the nine passengers in the car.

The accident, it was gathered, happened at about 4:10p.m. along the Patani axis of the road in Delta State.

An official of Ughelli Command of Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, the victims were travelling from Ughelli to Bayelsa in a Toyota Picnic car, when their vehicle rammed into a faulty lorry packed along the road, just before Patani Bridge.

He said officials of the FRSC had to cut through the mangled remains of the car to rescue the victims, adding that the driver and a female traveller were the only persons in the car that survived the accident.”
