Amuka, others grace Owie’s wife’s 60th birthday in Benin

BENIN—LEADERS of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and those of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Edo State shelved their differences, weekend, to attend the 60th birthday celebration of Mrs. Helen Owie, in Benin City, Edo State.

The dignitaries at the well-attended event include Publisher of Vanguard Newspapers, Mr. Sam Amuka and the Delta State Commissioner, Bureau for Special Duties, Pastor Powell Tos Ojogho, who represented Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State.

Others were former Head of Service of the country, Dr Steve Oronsaye; Chairman of the PDP in Edo State, Chief Dan Orbih; Edo South leader of APC, Gentleman Amegor; Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu; Mrs. Marbel Adams and top APC and PDP leaders in the state.

Father Andrew Obiyan, who conducted the Mass at St. Albert Catholic Church, Ugbowo, urged Nigerians to believe in God always, adding that the country will be a better place when Nigerians love each other no matter where he or she comes from.

He described the celebrator as a dedicated Christian, commending her for her philanthropic gestures and dedication to the service of God.

Also speaking, the husband, Senator Rowland Owie, admonished women to be tolerant in the their marriages, adding that no marriage succeeds without sacrifices from women.

He said: “God gave me my wife because I used to be a street man. But with love, she was always bringing me home and because of that I changed from my wayward life. Any woman who does not show love to her husband, no matter how bad the man may be, will lose him to another woman. God blessed me with this woman these 41 years of our marriage and I will remain grateful to Him.”
