Ambode unveils manifesto, promises to make Lagos work

Lagos—The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate for Lagos State, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode has promised to make Lagos work for everyone if he is elected into office by  focusing on Security, Economy, Infrastructure, Healthcare, Social Welfare and Good Governance.

In a document released in Lagos yesterday containing his manifesto, vision and mission with the theme: “Making Lagos work for everyone”, Mr Ambode said his administration will provide leadership, accountability, governance, opportunity and service.

On economy, he said his government will, among other things provide job by;

*Establishing an Employment Trust Fund with a commitment of N25bn in four years by the government one billion naira to be accessed by each of the five divisions in the State for the next four years); Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos and Epe Divisions

*Establishing Small Business Loan Guarantee Scheme, to be managed by reputable stakeholders from the private sector, civil society in conjunction with government;

*Encouraging Corporate Lagos to participate in the Employment Trust Fund and other areas of need that will help take our Youth off the streets.

*Providing adequate security for local and foreign businessmen and women to operate without fear of investment losses.

*Addressing regulatory matters on a fast-track basis with the aid of effective e-governance solutions for businesses.

*Re-inventing the ‘Middle Class’ by taking deliberate actions with commensurate political will to propel the middle class into the engine room of the economic prosperity of Lagos;and

*Collaborating with all relevant stakeholders to establish a credit system that is a win-win for everyone to boost trade and commerce.

On education, Ambode promised to continue  the current schools renovation program state-wide to improve learning environment, upgrade  libraries and create new ones into e-libraries in each LGA/LCDA in the State,Establish IBILE meal scheme in all our public schools and pay  bursary for students in higher institutions and introduce scholarship into our Vocational and Technical Colleges.

He also said his administration will ”Reposition LASU and Lagos State Polytechnic and other tertiary institutions in the state as global centres of academy and continue the current schools renovation program state-wide to improve learning environment.”
