Navy offers free medical treatment in Kogi, Delta

As part of activities marking its 56th anniversary, the Nigeria Navy , Kogi, Delta and Cross River States command of Nigeria Navy have commenced the free medical treatment and counseling to the host communities, just as the Nigeria Naval Engineering College, Ogorode, Sapele, distributed drugs  and immunized over 500 children against polio disease.

The Sapele Naval College through its medical team at the weekend administered treatment to people of its host communities and also distributed mosquito insecticide treated nets  to pregnant women and widows.

The Sapele Naval Commandant, Rear Admiral OE. Ekwe said the gesture was meant to reciprocate the harmonious relationship existing between it and the host community since it started operation in 1985 in Sapele.

Similarly, the Kogi State Commandant,  Navy Commodore  Innocent Kofi Yinfaowei said the free medical exercise was  part of the command’s social responsibility to the  host community.

He disclosed that the command choice of Karara-Otube was predicated on the dearth of medical facilities in the village health centre, adding that no fewer than 2,500 persons suffering from various ailments would benefit from the week-long programme.

Earlier, the Sapele Deputy Commandant of the College, Captain J.D Jaja disclosed that the community would enjoy from the on-going exercise which include health talk, medical counseling, blood pressure measurement, urinalysis, malaria prevention and treatment, consultation services, maternal and child health care amongst others.
