The West African bloc ECOWAS, which on Thursday said it will muster a “standby force” against the coup leaders in Niger, has a long history of military interventions in the region.

A former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Olabode George said President Tinubu Bola and Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, have enough room to dialogue with leaders of the Niger coup.

Italy has called on the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to give more  timeframe for the military junta in Niger to restore democratic order.
