The ECOWAS Parliament has adopted the proposed 2018 community budget of 284.9 million West African Units of Account (UA) (approximately 122 billion naira).

THE World Bank and ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, ECREE, have designed a regional renewable energy project, the Regional Off-Grid Electrification Project, ROGEP, aimed at increasing access to sustainable electricity supply, most especially in the rural areas of member states.

The ECOWAS Parliament has begun the review of the $284.9 million 2018 draft budget of the community.

The Speaker of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Parliament, Moustapha Cisse Lo, has called on the MTN Foundation, EU, UN agencies, African Capacity Building Foundation and a host of other donor agencies to support the Parliament with resources needed for the execution of necessary projects for development of the sub region.

Three weeks after the African Union decided on 30 January 2017 to readmit it following a 33-year absence, Morocco, which until then enjoyed the status of a sovereign Observer, announced on 24 February that it had applied to join the 15-member Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) on Friday signed an agreement with ECOWAS to make 31.6 million dollars available for projects development in the sub-region.

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari will on Tuesday depart for Niamey, Republic of Niger, to participate in a meeting on common currency for the West African sub-region.
