Come November 16, 2013, the governorship election will take place in Anambra State to elect the person that will succeed Governor Peter Obi whose tenure will terminate on March 17, 2014. The aspirants are already jostling for votes and talking of what they will do for the people of Anambra State if elected.

In the run up to the November 16, 2013 governorship election in Anambra State, virtually all the political parties and aspirants seem yet to find their rhythm. The election holds barely 90 days away to elect Gov Peter Obi’s successor. Analysts blame the scenario on the delay by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in releasing the guidelines and timetable for the election.

Ten years after Anambra Liberation Day
THE clock had just struck 8:47 am on the 10th day of July 2003 when a detachment of heavily armed mobile police men stormed the government house Awka, disarmed security operatives and made their way to the office of the then governor of Anambra State. The police men who were led by late Raphael Igeh the then Assistant Inspector General of Police (ALG) in charge of zone 9 Umuahia, Abia State confiscated the two phones of the then governor and whisked him away. Stories had it that the governor had resigned after being sworn in on may 29th 2003, thanking members of his executive for their assistance.
