THE Nnamdi Kanu Saga has received national and international media coverage in the past few months. Only two weeks ago hundreds of ‘Biafrans’ and supporters of the Biafran cause staged peaceful protests in front of the Vatican, headquarters of the Catholic Church in the world. There had been similar protests by the Biafran supporters in some European capitals. It is therefore timely now to address pertinent issues on the matter.

IT was about 1 pm. We were transfixed to our Television as we watched unbelievably as one plane plunged into one of the Twin Towers in the World Trade Centre in New York. People thought this might be a trailer for a new action thriller film. An hour or so later another plane struck the second Tower in the World Trade Centre. People stood around, watching. The Television newscaster could hardly believe what they were reading and seeing. It was eerily true.

It is soul-lifting the Ndokwa Neku has put its house in order and ready for the process that will install new men in the helm of the affairs of this august body. It demonstrates vividly that this umbrella organization will, with time, give us the ‘voice’ we need to bring the mega-marginalization of our people to the attention of the world. And the new men have their jobs cut out. There has been no significant change in the lives of our people. If there have been changes, it is just like ascending from the ground to an anthill.

Since the creation of the state some forty years ago, Mimiko has scored many firsts as governor and yet he had chosen not to make unnecessary noise about it. While sighting the endless project sites of his administration in my recent visit to the state, I couldn’t help but wonder if I was still in the Nigeria that I used to know. I took my time to stylishly ask on of his aides why they had all remained silent about these laudable projects. His response was “If you make unnecessary noise about any of these projects and even some other ones that we had commissioned and the people had started benefitting, Oga (referring to Governor Mimiko) will fire you immediately. He believes he is doing what the people elected him to do. Therefore, there is nothing extra ordinary about it”.

It has come to the knowledge of the immediate and extended family of the late Chief Anthony Eronmosele Enahoro, Adolor of Onewa/Adolor of Uromi, that the Onogie of Uromi proposes to invest a former Minister of Works, Mr Michael Onolimemen, with the title of Adolor of Uromi at a ceremony on Easter Monday.
