Artists are known all over the world for using anything around them to address some of the problems in the society, since they have no power to fight and always draw their sword in the theatre and this was what young Ibukun Fasunhan did with his new play titled Maybe Tomorrow, which was presented last week at the nations culture home, Terra Kulture, Lagos.

It was a year of intense activities for the National Gallery of Art (NGA). It began on an intellectual note with the maiden Nupe Art Conference/Exhibition which took place in the ancient city of Bida, Niger State. Traditional artists from the nooks and crannies of the old Nupe kingdom displayed different works ranging from paintings, sculptures and textiles to the admiration of all present.

After its successful hosting of the much acclaimed music dance drama, SARO 2 The Musical which rounded up its activities for the year 2014, the nation’s culture house Terra Kulture opened its door of activities for the year with an exhibition by 20 year old second year student of engineering at the University of Warwick,UK, Nissi Ogulu tagged NORRD Phenomenon.

As the year sets in with promising activities in the visual art sector, several art projects are lined up to make it a remarkable one. From all sections of the art industry, artists are gearing towards all forms of art workshops, exhibitions, festivals and seminars to foster the development of the industry. One of such projects that will raise the art industry and booster the image rebranding of Nigeria this year 2015 is the coming home to Africa for the first time, the iconic Martin Luther King Jnr. Statue which is expected in Badagry, Lagos, Nigeria.

The keenly contested 14th edition of the Miss Niger Delta Peace Cultural Pageant came to a resounding close with Deborah Ibeinmo Alfred emerging winner. She defeated 21 other contestants to win the prestigious contest which held at Dr Gabriel Okara Cultural Centre, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
