Nobody buys drinks for them. No man asks for a dance. Their clients are mainly young men of their age, or slightly older-20s-30s. They are casually dressed, in jeans, T-shirts and shirts flown out of their trousers. They sit, drinking their beers without female companies while the women stand away and look on.

WHAT does Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND) really want? Whose interest is it championing at the moment?

A minute in that environment was killing. The odour oozing out of the place could be dangerous to one’s health.
Interestingly, the inmates rendered some choruses to welcome their guests. Dressed in a uniform orange colour clothes, they exhibited different manners of their usual acts. The co-ordinator was up and doing checking their acts employing insane measures to deal with them at different times.

I think the best thing to do in this situation is to wear a new look and submerge yourself with the feeling of celebration. It may be very difficult especially when you remember how you have been celebrating the previous Christmas with your family and loved ones, but then since you cannot control the situation, you don’t have to make it worse. I suppress my pain with colorful wrappings and special smiles.
