As the issue of environmental pollution rages and nations are seeking alternative energy sources devoid of carbon emission, Nigeria, as a major oil-exporter, will be hard hit if nothing is done. To this end, Professor James Omoleye of the Department of Chemical Engineering and former Director, Centre for Research, Covenant University, Ota Ogun State, began a series of researches with his team which culminated in the making of an electric automobile and a power bike. In this chat with Vanguard Learning, Omoleye says Nigeria is far ahead of some nations in this area. Excerpts:

Despite concerted efforts by government and concerned stakeholders to provide Nigerians with quality education, a few have chosen to toe the line that leads to destruction through voluntary initiation into different cults, which has eaten deep into the education system.

Out-going Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture, Prof. Olaiya Balogun has said that the university produced no fewer than 39 first class graduates out of 1,355 graduating students from eight colleges for the 2010/2011 academic session.

Following recent reactions and protests by students of Lagos State University, External System, (LASUES) against the delay in commencing their 2010/2011 2nd semester exams, the Director, Centre for Information, Press and Public Relations, Lagos State University (CIPPR-LASU), Dr. Sola Fosudo has said that the delay was due to alleged irregularities and financial improprieties bedeviling the system.
