In the wake of the recent controversies facing girl-child education in the country, the first female Vice-Chancellor of an African university, Prof. Grace Alele-Williams has stressed the need for quality education for the Nigerian girl.

The Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University, Prof. John Oladapo Obafunwa has expressed optimism and determination to eradicate what he termed the many years of rot in the university, which ranks the first amongst state universities and 11th amongst all the universities in Nigeria (National Universities Commission 2013 ranking).

As the rate of students who patronise foreign institutions increases yearly, the Director-General, French Language Village, Badagry, Professor Samuel Aje has stated that Nigerians should stop celebrating foreign certificate holders more than indigenous certificates to reduce the quest for it.
