US President Donald Trump said Sunday that a ceasefire in Gaza was still holding after Israel carried out deadly strikes on the territory over alleged truce violations by Hamas.

“Without Baba, we are dead. We don’t have anywhere to go,” said Don Pelido, 20, a supporter pressed up against one barrier.

Gaza’s civil defence agency said that Israeli forces killed nine members of a single Palestinian family when they fired on a bus Friday, after the military confirmed it had targeted a vehicle that crossed the so-called “yellow line”.

China and the United States agreed Saturday to conduct another round of trade negotiations in the coming week, as the world’s two biggest economies seek to avoid another damaging tit-for-tat tariff battle.

The reimposition last month of UN sanctions at the urging of three of the deal’s European signatories rendered the accord effectively moot.
