AS President Muhammadu Buhari’s avowed war against corruption begins to gather momentum, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has thrown its weight behind the growing clamour for a special court to try corruption cases.

AS the much awaited screening of President Muhammadu Buhari’s ministerial nominees starts from today, Tuesday 13th October 2015, we call on the Senate to approach the exercise with the utmost sense of patriotism and be totally above political and sentimental considerations.

Predictable public outrage has trailed the proposal from a section of federal lawmakers to move to change the constitution to include the Senate President and his Deputy, Speaker of the House of Representatives and his Deputy as well as the Chief Justice of the Federation in the list of public officers to enjoy the immunity clause already granted the President and Vice President as well as Governors and their Deputies in the constitution.

SINCE it was established in 1999 via Decree (now Act) 35 of the Federal Government of Nigeria, the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) has been tasked with the overall goal of enhancing access to quality and affordable health care for all Nigerians.

This scheme eventually saw the light of day 27 years after it was first mooted in 1962 as the Lagos Health Bill.

Anxiety over the economy has not abated even as both the Presidency and the Senate appear to be ready to put in place the federal cabinet and by extension the economic team of President Muhammadu Buhari’s government.
