Nigeria’s athletes depart for World Championship
AT last, Nigeria’s junior athletes who have been at the mercy of the Italian Embassy in the country finally left this shores last night for Rome to be part of the World Youth Championship which kicked off on Tuesday. The embassy eventually granted travel visas to the junior athletes after higher authorities prevailed on the Italians who had earlier remained adamant not to do so.

Yar’Adua receives Pele, announces sports dev plan
Pele, who was the toast of everyone at the State House, was one of the members of a delegation of the International Olympic Committee which was led by its President, Mr. Jacques Rogge, on a courtesy visit to the Nigeria leader.
Speaking at the occasion, Yar’Adua said the Federal Government would implement a comprehensive sports development programme in the country.
