IN just a matter of days, the much anticipated February 14 election would be history. Or so Nigerians thought. After much planning, scheming, deliberation and physical and verbal violence, even slander and libel of the most venomous variety, Nigerians thought they would have the chance to choose who would be their president for the next four years, and either of the two leading candidates of the ACP and PDP would win or lose the election. But it was a long journey to this point.

THE full title of my last column (27 January 2015) is “How Col. Dasuki Confirmed Nigeria as the Never-ready Country (and Why the Elections Must Not Be Postponed).” It was published without the second part in parenthesis. But I had been expressing a vain hope.

It never ceases to amaze me how we continue to play games with our future as a country. Our politics, like a soap opera or a badly written pantomime, is filled with awe- inspiring episodes which leave one both amazed and confused as we await the next instalment.

IF Nigeria is a nation of laws and of the rule of law, the presidential candidacy of Muhammadu Buhari should end this week. The reason is well-known to all. Buhari swore an oath on his INEC application that his credentials are with the military. This turned out to be a lie.

YOU may not have heard about an American journalist known as Brian Williams. If so, Wikipedia has this brief introduction: “Brian Douglas Williams is an American journalist who is the anchor and managing editor of NBC Nightly News, the evening news programme of the NBC television network, a position he assumed on December 2, 2004.”
