Jesus berated the mercenary religious leaders of biblical days. He told them: “‘It is written, my house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’” (Matthew 21:13).

My niece was getting married. The reception was planned as a grand open-air affair. But at the very onset of the event, thick rain-clouds formed, over-shadowing the location. It was clear that it would not only rain, it would pour.

Jesus says: “Beware of these Pharisees and the way they pretend to be good when they aren’t. But such hypocrisy cannot be hidden forever. It will become as evident as yeast in dough.” (Luke 12:1-2).

Is the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ behind the wars, massacres and genocide of the Jews in the Old Testament? Certainly not! God says “love your enemies;” he does not say annihilate them. Jesus’ Father is merciful; and “he does not change like shifting shadows.” (James 1:17). As a matter of fact, “his mercy endures forever.” (Psalm 106:1).

I was a baby Christian, basking in newborn fellowship with the Lord. I woke up one morning to discover I was singing a new song. I had never sung it before; but it was clear I had been singing it in my sleep and continued now awake. How do you sing a song you never knew before? How come you know the words?

The love we are expected to have for God does not permit any other love. As a matter of fact, if we love God, we must hate everyone else. We must love our neighbour but not because we love him. We must love our neighbour because we love God. God’s love tolerates no rivals. He says: “I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God.” (Exodus 20:5).

Jesus says: “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” (John 14:6). He says to Pilate: “For this cause I was born and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth.” (John 18:37). Jesus refers to the Holy Spirit he bequeaths to us as: “The Spirit of truth.” (John 14:17). However, many Christians are not committed to truth. Indeed, truth endangers the faith of most Christians.

The bible is the most important book ever compiled. However, it is also one of the most dangerous. It is used to edify and it is also used to deceive. Christians like to pretend that the bible was written by one person. But in reality, it was written by 40 different authors from three continents in three different languages.

Christians claim to be followers of Jesus, but deny him at every turn. We don’t do what he asks us to do; but we do what he tells us not to do. We talk Jesus but contradict him at every turn. We call Jesus our Good Shepherd, but refuse to follow him. Jesus says: “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?” (Luke 6:46).

What is the way, the truth and the life of eternal life, which is the will of the Father? Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. (John 14:6). God the Father required Jesus the Son to lay down his life out of love for him in order to return to him in heaven and inherit eternal life.

The will of God was not done on earth before Jesus came because Jesus is: “the beginning and the ending of all things.” (Revelation 1:8). Jesus says: “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10).

Christians often go to “Nicodemus pastors,” seeking the will of God. We want to know whether to accept this or that job-offer. We want to know if we should marry Joseph or Kunle. “Which one will enable me to fulfil my destiny? Which is God’s will for my life?” we ask.

Christian pastors have become demigods. Their word is law; no questions asked. As Jesus said, they teach as doctrines the commandments of men. (Matthew 15:9). They come up with all kinds of self-serving principles that turn scripture on its head; just in order to justify themselves before men and control their lives. A nightmare occurs when an invisible person presses us down on the bed while we are sleeping. Literally, it means someone rides us like a mare at night. According to European myth and legend, a nightmare is a demon or evil spirit that harasses and suffocates people in their sleep.

There is a fundamental difference between God-given dreams and God-given visions. Dreams are revelations we receive from God while we sleep. Visions, on the other hand, are revelations we receive while awake
