God does not want his children to be ignorant; therefore he tells us vital things beforehand

Have you just bought a cell-phone and are wondering how to use it? It is written. Check the manual. Have you just bought a television and you want to set the channels? It is written. Do you want to be a son of God but don’t know what it entails? It is written. Do you want to belong to the kingdom of God but don’t know its values and principles? It is written. It is written in the scriptures.

Many Christians reject central tenets of the faith Jesus delivered, while still claiming to be Christians. We have been socialised on the word of men, contrary to the word of God. Indeed, many have established no-go areas in their hearts and minds against the word of God. These no-go areas pertain to issues dear to us, about which we are not prepared to entertain anything contrary.

THE scriptures depict a Samaritan woman who attends the Church of Mount Gerizim. In that church, some members of the congregation have buckets, so they are able to draw water from the well to drink. Others expect to have buckets or are hoping to get buckets. Nevertheless, all the members of Mount Gerizim church are thirsty. However, when they get to church, the pastor promises they will have lots of water to drink.

In the scriptures, Jesus paid a visit to a General Hospital. The place was full of sick people. Some had been suffering of malaria for ten years. Some had been afflicted with flu for twelve years. Others had cough for fifteen years.

Many Christians do not want to go to school. Those inclined to do so would rather all their studies were theoretical. We want to get a degree in French but not know how to speak the language. We want to get a degree in Mechanical Engineering but be unable to change the spark plugs of a car. We eagerly recite scripture but it is clear the word of God has not been made flesh in us.

The salvation popularly preached in the churches is not the salvation of Jesus Christ. The notion that Christians are already saved is beguiling, bewitching and illusory. Paul says we are saved without works. (Ephesians 2:9). Then he enjoins us to work out our salvation with fear and trembling. (Philippians 2:12).

Rich men don’t run after passers-by in the street. Nevertheless, in the scriptures, a “rich young ruler” is shown running after Jesus. When he finally gets to him, he does something equally unusual: he falls down on his knees at his feet. What does he want that money cannot buy?

You want to see a man that is blessed, don’t ask what kind of job he has. Don’t ask how much he has in the bank.

Christians insist we are children of Abraham, even without doing the works of Abraham. We sing repeatedly: “Abraham’s blessings are mine. I am blessed in the morning, I am blessed in the evening; Abraham’s blessings are mine.” But since we have been appropriating Abraham’s blessings, we have not become rich. Something must be wrong somewhere otherwise Christians should be the richest people on earth today.
