A Lagos based comedian, Kenneth Agberia popularly known as “Mc Shakara’’, on Monday said that piracy had continued to be a nuisance to the entertainment industry.
Agberia, who said this in an interview in Lagos said that it was only when the menace was frontally tackled that the industry could get a respite.

Coded Tunes Entertainment has unveiled two new artistes signed to its label, namely, Gaise, an Afro-fusion artiste, and Chinekeboi, an indigenous rapper. Gaise who was formerly signed to Sanctified Records and widely believed to be a gospel artiste has cleared the air on his genre of music. According to him, ‘I’ve always been an Afro-fusion artiste. It’s my style and genre, and I understand that artistes are classified along those lines. The focus of my music is to promote Godly values, and push out wholesome content.’

The second edition of The Most Beautiful Girl in Eko Cultural Pageant takes place at the Bamboo Event Hall, Omole, Ojodu, Lagos on Friday, September 18.

Currently the most anticipated album of the year, Skales debut album titled “Man of the Year” is finally set for release on May 18, 2015. The release will be followed with an album launch concert which holds on May 31, at the Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos.

Occasionally, artistes tell stories through their music which make their fans connect with them. Beautiful singer, Sefiya who is taking steps to set the wheel of fame rolling for her, recently released a new song titled Nwayo. The Afropop damsel tells the story of her love for a dude, showering praises on him.

I’ve learnt that songs are spiritual, and we as artistes, should watch the kind of songs we sing. Like the song “Once bitten, twice shy;” it was a quality song, but it was released at the wrong time when other things were happening. People just added one and two together, and concluded that the song was talking about my own separation. I still repeat that it’s a good song, and it’s only unfortunate that people read wrong meanings to it.

Africa Magic, the continent’s leading provider of world class African entertainment, recently hosted a star studded event in Enugu to celebrate the new Africa Magic Igbo channel. Hosted by ace comedian and Nollywood actor, Okey Bakassi, the glamorous event which held at The Dome had in attendance leading players from the Nigerian film and television industry including many who were instrumental to the industry’s founding with early Igbo language content.

‘St. Mary’, a 110-minute film, centres on the negative implication of s3x and human trafficking. Speaking on the flick, Bassey Inyang said, ‘It is always a delight to be able to contribute to a cause and such is the issue of human trafficking. The St. Mary is an advocacy flick that I’m glad to be associated with and I can tell you that with projects like this, we can sensitize more people than you can imagine.’

Not every song becomes a hit even when it might have found acceptance within a section of the listening audience. Most artistes who have had one or several in their careers have been honest enough to admit it was never a thing they expected.
