Reactions and arguments took over social media on Monday as President Muhammadu Buhari broke the jinx of the long anticipated visit to Benue state.

At the early hours of Monday, it was reported that Buhari arrived Benue to commiserate with the people, victims of the deceased and hold meetings with the state’s stakeholders along with their governor, Samuel Ortom.

While speaking to stakeholders in Makurdi, the state capital, Buhari surprisingly opined “I am not aware that the I-G did not spend 24 hours in the state as directed by me, I am getting to know this in this meeting”, he said.

In view of the above statement, Social media user picked their tool to write the following:

Buhari (C-in-C) asked IGP to relocate to Benue. IGP left Benue after 1 day. From then till now, Buhari didn’t know. He confessed to that today. Not surprised. I’ve consistently argued, from when it took him 6 months to appoint dead woods as ministers, that Buhari is INCOMPETENT.

The symbolism of what happened in Jigawa and Benue today is clear to me:

PDP had never lost Benue until 2015 and has only ever won Jigawa in 1999 and in 2007.

Today foreshadows both a reversal to the status quo in Benue (Middle-Belt) and a reversal of fortunes in Jigawa (NW).
