Eagles coach at the 2010 World Cup, Lars Lagerback has recommended Sani Kaita to Spanish side Malaga.
The Swede told Malaga officials not to judge Kaita with his moment of madness at the SA 2010 World Cup.
“Lagerback has informed Malaga that Kaita has a superb mentality noting that what happened against Greece at the World Cup was a one_off thing,†said Kaita’s agent and former international Tijjani Babangida.
“In general, he presented a good report of Sani to Malaga.â€
Kaita was sent off for an attempted kick at a Greece player in the first half of a Group B World Cup match in Bloemfontein.
Lagerback’s endorsement is now expected to play a big part in Malaga’s decision on whether or not to sign the former Kano Pillars star.
Last season, another Nigeria international, Obinna Nsofor, played on loan for the modest Spanish side.
According to Babangida, Kaita still has a year to run on his contract at French club AS Monaco but he is seeking a loan or even an outright sale before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
The player has already turned down a move to Greece because he fears a hate backlash both in Nigeria and Greece on the heels of his World Cup red card.
Kaita is at present in Barcelona while awaiting his next destination.
