Early downpour disrupts activities in Lagos

 An early morning downpour yesterday in parts of Lagos disrupted social and economic activities for several hours.

Most hit were Ijesa, Ilasamaja, Ajegunle and Apapa areas all of which were flooded.

The rain started at about 2.30 a.m. and continued until about 9 a.m.

Motorists and commuters were stranded on the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway for upward of five hours, as a result of the flooding.

The resultant gridlock..

The situation was not helped by the many trailers and other vehicles that broke down in the flood, and the rehabilitation of the drainage on the road.
