CAF Champions League winning coach Kadiri Ikhana has decried the manner with which Premier League clubs treat players welfare with levity.

The former Enyimba coach believes players should be treated  like kings because they more than anyone else make the game thick. He stressed that they need to be cared for so as to bring out the best in them during competitions.

Ikhana whose team Kwara United is doing well in the on-going Super Four play-off in Ijebu-Ode said  Nigerian players lack proper welfare, adding that it is responsible for the low quality performance the players put up every week during the regular season.

“I believe players should be treated very well like it is done in the Europe. The fact that our players leave our shores and the following week are doing well in Europe, is a testimony to the fact that if properly cared for they can do well in Nigeria.

“Imagine a player who has not been paid for three to four months, the expectation from such player will be drastically low,” he concluded.
