Top Nollywood  director, Dickson Iroegbu says  he is  finding it difficult to
come to  terms with the reality of  the  rumour making  rounds that he abandoned his wife of many years for  a  faceless  model , whom  he is accused of seeing  in  recent times.

Though the  prolific movie  maker has since dismissed  the rumour, he believes it’s  part of the bitter price  he has  to pay as a renowned film maker.

In a telephone chat with HVP during  the week, Iroegbu declared  “my marriage is intact and  I haven’t divorced my wife. Although  I’m  from a polygamous family, I’m  not in a hurry  to  become a  polygamist. I was shocked when I heard about the rumour.

I began to ask, what do  the mischief makers want to achieve on the pages of national dailies? Are they  trying to destroy my marriage or  ruin my career?”

“I couldn’t have  divorced a woman who gave me two boys and a girl. I may have had issues with my wife, and that’s my private life. It does not mean that I have divorced her”.

Continuing the pint sized director  said, “my wife’s parent are pastors  in the Redeemed Christian Church of God. And as a Christian  I have no heart  for evil.

I want to make heaven and I can’t achieve my dream by divorcing my wife.”
He cautioned the media, as he blamed them for  his recent ordeal.  “Press guys have not been fair to me. I wonder why they should be focusing their searchlight on people like  me  who  are  not in front of the camera. I’m not a movie star, rather I’m just a producer.”

Iroegbu however denied having anything to do with any model. He described the rumour as unfounded and malicious, adding that in the heat of the rumour, he has concluded  plans to hold a public presentation of his collection of poetry , on  Jos crisis titled, “Save Our Plateau” in Owerri, on the 14th of August.

The book , Iroegbu hinted, will also  be launched in  Lagos, Abuja and Jos respectively.   An award winning film maker, Iroegbu  has produced notable films like “Trinity”, “Women’s Cot”, “Child Soldier” and several other films.
