Nigerian-born CAF and FIFA executive committee member, Dr Amos Adamu has said that the world football governing body was not in any way against Nigeria as a country.

Addressing delegates at the NFA extra-ordinary congress in Abuja last weekend, Adamu said FIFA’s stand on recent developments in Nigerian football was only normal as the organisation had  zero tolerance for member associations that violate its rules.

“We should all know that FIFA is not against government; it is an organisation that holds its rules sacred wants all its 208 member associations to obey the rules and regulations,” Adamu told the delegates.

The former sole administrator of the NFA sympathised with President Goodluck Jonathan over the passion he demonstrated after the failure of the Eagles in South Africa.

He  pointed out that it was because of that passion and desire to ensure that the game improved  than what obtains presently that made him take the extreme steps that resulted in the present development.

In his remark at the opening of the Nigeria Football Association Extra_Ordinary General Assembly, which the former NFA president, Sani Lulu Abdullahi and two other principal officials that were dismissed shunned, Dr Adamu said, “Footballl in Nigeria makes people happy when we win and unhappy when we lose; it is a passion”“And we the administrators must see it as a responsibility for it to work.”
