A board member of the Nigeria Football Association, Obinna Ogba has said that the Executive Committee was not under any undue pressure to impeach its president, Sani Abdullahi Lulu, first vice president, Amanze Uchegbulam and chairman of the technical committee, Taiwo Ogunjobi as the process had been on, even before the World Cup.
He said the latest action was taken out of the need to save Nigerian football from international disgrace.
“We have all along been keeping a tap on the trio as we had warned them before now to watch their steps as they were leading the country’s football astray,†Ogba said.
Continuing, the board member said, “we warned them on the impending doom if they did not change their ways but they continued as if nothing mattered. With the turn of events, we felt the only way to save our football and prevent Nigerian football from international isolation was to see to their impeachment.â€
Another member of the board, Princess Bola Jegede corroborated Ogba’s statement when she said, the process to impeach Lulu and the others had been on.
“In fact, we served them impeachment notice since February 7, but somehow, we allowed things to go on without necessarily making noise because of the World Cup. There was no better time to take this course of action than now,†Jegede said.
