ABUJA—The Federal Capital Territory, FCT,  Police Command has quizzed the arrow heads of the progressives in House, Dino Melaye and Austin Nwachukwu  over allegations of smuggling of dangerous weapons  used to hurt another member.

Interrogation lasted about three hours after which Dino and Austin were released.Spokesman for the police, Superintendent Jimoh Moshood confirmed the development.

Also, contrary to the perception in many quarters that the leadership of House of Representatives has silenced its opponents over the corruption allegations, by suspending them, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) may now be closing-in on the leadership of the Green Chamber, after all.

Competent sources disclosed in Abuja yesterday that top operatives of the anti-graft agency raided the House, yesterday, carting away sensitive documents from the Office of the Clerk and those of other leaders.

The source said, “it is an unfolding scenario. What is happening is just unfolding.  I can confirm that we raided the place today (yesterday). Investigations are still on”, the source said.

According to him, experts have been busy analyzing the documents carted away from various offices in the House of Representatives and were determined to do a thorough work on the documents, as well as those contained in the petitions earlier submitted by the Dino Melaye group.

EFCC, he said, would arrest those involved in the alleged scam at a point when its legal team would have prepared a water-tight case against them.

EFCC’s Chiarman, Mrs. Farida Waziri, was at the Presidential Villa to brief President Goodluck Jonathan on the issue and other on-going high profile cases, it was also learnt yesterday.

Allegations of massive corruption against the House leadership has continued to dominate the  media in the last few weeks.
