ABUJA—THE national leadership of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, has concluded arrangements to clear the coast for former National Secretary of the party, Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo to emerge as its National Chairman.

Speaking with Vanguard, yesterday, on whether there was a waiver by the party for Nwodo, the National Vice Chairman, South East, Chief Olisa Metu who described the burning issue as no serious matter, stressed that Nwodo might have been given a waiver a long time ago.

He said: “What makes you sure that the party has not given him a waiver since there is no issue about it. It is the mass media that are making noise about the issue of waiver. Maybe he has been given a waiver and if the party has done, do you expect us to make noise about it? Why are we making noise over it, can’t he be given waiver anytime if he has not been given?

Meanwhile, a copy of a letter written to Metu,  6 April, 2009 by the Enugu State Chapter of the party was made available to newsmen in Abuja yesterday with the caption, Re: Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo’s return to Our Great Party- Waiver Notification” and it was received and signed for by one Mr. Chuma on 18 April, 2009.

Part of the letter which was signed by the state Chairman, Vita Abba reads: “The above subject matter refers. On Tuesday April 14, 2009, one of our founding fathers, a member of our Board of Trustees and former National Secretary of our great party, the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, from Enugu State, Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo, who left our Party for Action Congress, AC, in 2007 was officially received back to our fold by the National Chairman of our great Party, Prince Vincent Eze Ogbulafor amongst other returnees during the South East Zonal Rally of the Party.”
