ILORIN — THE Kwara State government has denied that its officials are being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mr Ben Duntoye, who debunked the claims in an interview with journalists in Ilorin yesterday said some national dailies in recent times had been inundated with some misguided, deliberate reports among which were EFCC investigations.
His words: “Yet another spurious and malicious claim by the opposition parties in Kwara State of an imaginary report of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, that indicted the Governor Abubakar Bukola Saraki administration.â€
The Commissioner described as mere lies of imaginary reports of indictment of anti graft agencies of this coloration are a familiar song of the opposition in Kwara State.
He recalled that “shortly before the 2007 election, it was wild in circulation. But the story went the way it came when it could not be sustained with truth.
“Just as it has been our mission, the development of the state in all ramifications is our prime mandate and thus we will resist any premeditated distractions from the opposition or any other related quarters.”
