Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has charged corps members deployed to Ogun State for the 2016 Batch “B” Orientation course to take advantage of the opportunity of the enabling environment provided by the state government to fire their imaginative and creative instincts while leaving bold imprints on the sands of time.

The Governor, who was represented by   Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Morouf Afolabi Afuape, during the swearing in ceremony at the Gateway International Stadium, Sagamu,  reminded the corps members that they have important roles to play in developing the towns, communities and grassroots when they are deployed to all the nooks and crannies of the state. According to Amosun, “your role in the successful implementation of our administration’s five cardinal programmes as enshrined in our mission to rebuild Ogun State cannot be over emphasized”. He said stressed his administration’s commitment to strengthen the NYSC scheme while guaranteeing its overwhelming relevance in Ogun State.

Earlier in his address, the NYSC Ogun State coordinator, Mr. Afolayan Adeola James, declared that a total of 2,642 prospective corps members consisting of 1,409 males and 1,233 females deployed to Ogun State have been registered. 

Afolayan, who said the orientation programme of the NYSC which is the first of the four cardinal programmes of the scheme is characterized by: military drills, skills acquisition, lectures on topical subjects, advocacy training, games, sports and other relevant social activities. Afolayan enjoined the corps members to avail themselves of the opportunities provided by the orientation and be the best they can be. A highlight of the event was the signing of oath of allegiance form by corps members before the chief judge of Ogun State, Hon. Justice O. Olopade, who was ably represented by Hon. Justice Olanrewaju Mabakoje.
