Monarchs task FG on peaceful resolution of N-Delta crisis

Appoint substantive Amnesty Coordinator, Niger Delta stakeholders urge Buhari

DELTA State Traditional Rulers Council, TRC, has called on the Federal Government and other stakeholders in the Niger Delta to concentrate fully on peaceful resolution of the Niger Delta crisis in the interest of development in the region.

The monarchs who spoke through their second Vice Chairman and Pere of Akugbene, Mein SP Luke Kalanama VIII, while addressing the Akugbene Mein Traditional Council in his palace at Akugbene, Bomadi Local Government Area, urged his subjects to remain calm and resist acts inimical to the continued peace and stability of the kingdom.

He appealed to restive youths in the region, including the Niger Delta Avengers, to sheathe their swords and engage in a more peaceful approach in their quest for a better deal for the people of the region, insisting that the Federal Government should jettison the military option for enduring peace to be achieved in the region.

The monarch lauded the development strides of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s administration in peace building, economic empowerment, development of infrastructure and the implementation of the prosperity-for-all agenda.

Speaking, a member of the council and the Peregbolu-owel of Akugbene Mien Kingdom, Chief Richard Enaredei, extolled the leadership style of Kalanama VIII, saying his reign had brought tremendous development to the kingdom.
