Akure—POLICE detectives in Ondo State Command are investigating a 50-year-old man, who allegedly had carnal knowledge of his two under-aged daughters.

The suspect, a senior lecturer in one of the universities in the South-West, who was arrested and then granted bail, was accused of committing paedophilia, violence against his estranged wife and mother of the victims.

Contacted, the police image maker, Femi Joseph, confirmed that the suspect is being investigated over the allegation by his estranged wife.

Joseph told newsmen in Akure that the police had commenced “intensive investigation into the allegations and would not hesitate to bring the suspect to book if found guilty.”

Speaking with newsmen, mother of the girls confirmed the allegations against the suspect, adding that she had to persuade the victims with the assurance that nothing bad would befall them before they narrated their ordeals.

She said: “The children were taken to Ondo State Specialist Hospital, Akure, for medical examination and treatment, where report showed that time has erased evidence of recent semen deposition. Neither of them has an intact hymen.”

Meanwhile, a non-governmental organisation, Association of Chief Executive Officers of Women, has petitioned the state Police Command, calling for the prosecution of the suspect.

The group in a petition, pleaded with the Command that the victims be prevented from “further sexual violation from their paedophilia father.”

Contacted, the suspect and father of the minors, declined to join issues with his former wife.

He said: “The investigation is still ongoing and so it will be wrong for me to say anything about the matter. I should not start joining issues with her when the investigation team has not concluded their investigation.

“It is better I calm down, allow the investigation to  go on; by the time I have their own report, that is the best time for me to react. I will definitely react.”
