Enyimba Football Club goalkeeper, Theophilus Afelokhai has attributed the team’s defeats in recent times to their inability to play at their traditional home ground in Aba due to the renovation work going on there.

The team boosted their chances of getting a place in the in continental championship by defeating Wikki Tourist in their Matchday 31 fixture at the Yakubu Gowon stadium in Portharcourt on Wednesday.

Afelokhai said that Enyimba are supposed to be at the top of the league table but due to several games played outside the Aba Township stadium, they recorded defeats in their last few matches.

He affirmed that that the team have woken up and are ready to fight for the top spot, adding that they could pick a slot for the continental Cup campaign if they remain unbeaten till the end of the season and finish among the top 3 in the league.
