LAGOS State Government has reiterated that it will not compromise the existing peace and unity in the state. It therefore called on all Lagosians to be law abiding, peaceful and always work towards everything that will enhance the socio-economic growth of the state.

The state Solicitor General and Permanent secretary in the Ministry of Justice, Mrs Funlola Odunlami in a press conference to announce events to commemorate the 2016 ‘International Day of Peace’, said the government will never relent in her efforts to guarantee peace and stability in the state.

She said that the government recognised the importance of the state as the commercial nerve center of the sub-Saharan Africa where everyone converges to earn a living.

The theme of this year is: “Sustainable Development Goals: Building Blocks for Peace.”

According to her, “the Lagos State Government recognises the fact that the state as the commercial never center of the Sub-Sahara Africa, where all races converge for various purposes, such as business, hospitality, tourism among others, has put in place mechanisms that will foster development and promote economic activities in the state by instituting agencies that will attend to matters relating towards enhancing peace in the State.

During the three-day activities to commemorate the day, Odunlami said the government will engage on “a Walk 4 Peace” on Lagos Island, followed by a stakeholders conference scheduled for September 2016 at the LTV ground, Ikeja.

Beside, the government will hold a legal clinic on September 22, and another “Walk 4 Peace” in Ojokoro area of the state.
