ABEOKUTA—Ogun State command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has arrested 48 suspected vandals and impounded 41 vehicles from them within the last six months.
The state Public Relations Officer of NSCDC, Kareem Olanrewaju, said in a statement in Abeokuta, while giving statistics of the mid-year achievements recorded by the command.
Kareem said the NSCDC also intercepted 78,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS; of N3, 550,000.00; seven firearms and six generating sets from the suspects between January and June, this year.
Kareem, also noted that eight motorcycles were recovered from suspected vandals.
According to him, the vehicles intercepted from suspects include 24 buses, seven fuel tankers, three trucks, five transit Ford, one Honda Accord car and one Mazda car.
He disclosed that three of the suspects had been convicted while 21 were still under prosecution.
Kareem explained 25 cases, including stealing, drug, child labour, fake cream, unlawful possession, child stealing, assault and possession of fake Naira notes, among others, were referred to other agencies.
He added that three private guard companies were issued warning letter while the operations of one was suspended.
