Iwobi and Elneny
Egypt international midfielder, Mohamed Elneny, has taken a shot at his Nigerian Arsenal teammate, Alex Iwobi, ahead of Friday’s 2017 Afcon qualifying match in Kaduna.
The 23-year-old told popular Arab satellite television, MBC, that he has been discussing the crucial match between his country, Egypt and Nigeria with Iwobi, who
has two caps for the Super Eagles in international friendly matches.
Elneny revealed in his brief discussion with Iwobi over the matches by warning his Gunners’ teammates that it will be difficult for Nigeria to defeat Egypt.
“I told him that it will be hard for Nigeria to beat Egypt,” Elneny said.
The former FC Basel man also has the hunch that the Pharaohs can beat Nigeria on Friday despite acknowledging that their opponents will be tough.
“I have a good feeling that we will be able to win the match. Nigeria is a good tough team but we’re good too. I also feel that I am surrounded by support from everyone encouraging us to get back to winning,” said Elneny.
Egypt, who currently top Group G of the Africa Cup of Nations qualification, will play hosts to Nigeria in Alexandria on March 29.
