Omoku, Buguma killings: Police arrest two

PORT HARCOURT—RIVERS State Police Commissioner,  Mr Musa Kimo, said, yesterday, that one person  has been arrested for the murder of late Franklin Obi and two other members of his family in Omoku, headquarters of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of the sate on Saturday.

The Police chief, who spoke at the Police headquarters in Port Harcourt, appealed for cooporation from members of the public to fight crime to a standstill.

He said that the Police also arrested one other suspect over the murder of late Ofinjite Amachree in Buguma on Monday.

He enjoined the media to double check their sources of information to avoid creating unnecessary tension in the state.

Kimo said that the incident in Buguma on Monday was purely murder, noting that there  was no clash between members of rival parties.

He said: “The incident in Buguma was a clear murder,  it was not a clash. It was a murder case. There was no disruption of peace in the area. We  have a suspect, Ndubisi Tochi, in our custody in  connection with the murder of  Ofinijite Amachree.

“We also have in our custody one Anthony Ugoh, who was arrested in connection with the murder of Franklin Obi and two other members of his family.”

The Police boss said that eight kidnappers lost their lives in February during an exchange of fire with his men, adding that five armed robbers were also shot dead by his command.

He said 19 kidnappers were arrested at separate times in February by his men while 33 armed robbers were arrested, adding that 12 AK 47 riffles, two pump action guns, 76 cartridges were among items recovered by his command from hoodlums.
