The Federal Government will take steps to address the ease of doing business in Nigeria as well as support small and medium enterprises, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Okechukwu Enelamah, stated this at the Economist Summit, adding that the challenge before the country was how to be competitive.

He said the Federal Government was giving attention to ease of doing business, creating enabling environment to attract investment, industrialization and supporting SMEs.

He said: “The key is to create right incentive, regulation and policy so that people can work with them and do more locally than just importing.

“Nigeria’s great asset is its people, diversity, and dynamism. When you listen to Dangote you have to be inspired. Nigeria is fortunate to have industrialists that are committed to long term industrialization of the country. My wish is that we need more.

“We need to look beyond the rhetoric and actually implement what we are talking about because I believe that if we implement them, we get better result.”

He said government had prioritized employment, local production, inclusive economy, emphasizing on those things that will create revenue.

“If we decide on a kind of policy, let us pursue it logically and get the benefit and these policies need to be dynamic. Ultimately, we have to be competitive” because there is a journey to go from zero to hero,” he said.
