Yenagoa—Former Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Chief Timi Alaibe, was among the 10 persons that have procured the expression of interest and nomination forms to contest the governorship primaries of the All Progressive Congress, APC in Bayelsa State.

Also, to contest the primaries are former Bayelsa Housing and Lands Commissioner, Austin Ogionwo, former state PDP chairman, Col Sam Inokoba (rtd), former member of House of Representatives, Warman Ogoriba  and former Secretary to State Government, Senator Felix Oboro.

Others include  former Commissioner for Local Government, Chief Godknows Powell, former Chief of Staff to Governor Seriake Dickson, Chief Dikivie Ikhiogha, former member, House of Representatives, Christopher Enai and the immediate past senator representing Bayelsa East Senatorial district, Senator Clever Ikisikpo.

According to party sources, former Governor Timipre Sylva and leader of the APC in the state, has also paid for the expression of interest/nomination forms but is yet to pick up same from the national secretariat of the party.

It was gathered from a party source that Alaibe’s form, were procured by elders and stakeholders from the state under the aegis of Bayelsa Change Project.

According to the party source, “This afternoon (yesterday), some elders picked up the nomination form for presentation to Chief Alaibe at the APC national secretariat.  The group of over 48 was led by Senator John  Brambaifa. Others include Chief Alex Ekiotenne, Dr Stella Dorgu, Chief O’Lord Michael Bassuo.”

Senator Brambaifa was quoted to have thanked the leadership of the APC for “Its very organised process of hitch-free candidates selection and assured that the people of Bayelsa State are poised for a change and the APC as a family will work collectively to achieve that.

“Governance has failed in Bayelsa and we need to act now to leave a credible legacy for our children,” he said.

Confirming the development, yesterday, a member of Bayelsa elders, Patterson Ogon, said the group of elders was led by Senator Brambaifa.
