PORT HARCOURT—Family members of the late commercial bus driver, who was shot dead last weekend in Port Harcourt, Rivers State by a Police Sergeant, has denied that the deceased was a member of one of the political parties in the state.
Counsel to the family, Mr Gobaride Bon said that the deceased was extremely apolitical, adding that he was coming from a mechanic workshop when he met his untimely death in the hands of the trigger happy policeman.
The family also complained about the slow pace of investigation into the matter, saying that all they wanted was for the trigger happy policeman, who shot the late David Legbaraa dead to be made to face the full weight of the law.
Meantime, Special Adviser to the state governor on Media and Publicity, Mr Opunabo Nko-Tariah, has accused the All Progressive congress, APC in the state, of being behind the security challenges in the state.
Nko-Tariah in a statement, however, reassured people of the state that the government will continue to take steps to protect lives and property.
In response, the APC blamed the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the security problems, saying it had continued to unleash terror on the people of the state.
