PORT HARCOURT—Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Rivers State, has dismissed as mere propaganda, the allegation by the governorship candidate of the All Progress Congress, APC, Dr. Dakuku Peterside that a large number of chieftains of the party will soon decamp to the APC.
Peterside had told members of his APC recently in Port Harcourt, that some chieftains of the PDP had expressed willingness to defect to the APC because there was nothing happening in the PDP.
Deputy Publicity secretary of the PDP in the state, Mr Sam Wonosike, said that the claim by Peterside should be ignored, alleging that it was another tissue of lies to boost the already dampened morale of members of the APC in the state.
He said that the PDP was intact, stressing that there was no attempt by members to decamp en-masse from the party.
“It is worrisome and laughable that some leaders of the APC could say elections did not hold in the state. There is an APC member who is in the state House of Assembly representing Eleme. Where did he get the votes if elections did not hold? When APC wins, there is election, but when PDP wins election did not hold,” he said.
