Ijaw Monitoring Group, IMG, has described the death of Chief Matthew Dina Ganagana, a.k.a Madiga of Enekoregha Town, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State as the end of an era in Niger Delta in general and Ijaw land in particular.

In a message by Joseph Evah, Coordinator of IMG, the group stated that Chief Ganagana’s entrepreneurial spirit led to the establishment of the first fast food bakery in the creek of Niger Delta, called ‘MADIGA’ in the 1980’s.

“A champion of the business world in the Niger Delta Creek, a worthy pace-setter in poverty alleviation in the creek is gone. There is no family root in the creek that did not taste food) baked by Madiga.

“Niger Delta salutes a giant of our time for his decades of valued and selfless service to the regions. Like one in a million golden bubbles. Chief ‘Madiga’ stands out in his generation with economic drive that saved his people from starvation,”the group sated

The IMG urged Delta and Bayelsa state governments to honour the great patriot, adding that the first bakery the deceased established in Enekorogha town should be redesigned by the federal and state governments as a monument for the study of local economic empowerment programme for higher institutions and scholars in Nigeria.
