Ekiti varsity lecturers threaten strike over kidnaps

Ado Ekiti—Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Ekiti State University chapter, took to the street yesterday in protest against incessant kidnapping of its members, gaving the state government till Friday, May 22, to rescue the victims, failing which they would go on indefinite strike.

They marched from Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital in Ado to the palace of Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe, where they said five of their members had been  kidnapped.

They said two had been released to look for N210 million being ransom for the release of the others.

The victims include Dr. Femi Omisore, a lecturer at Obafemi Awolowo University; Dr. Folasade Alade of EKSU and Dr. Kikelomo Adegun, wife of the former Chief Medical Director of EKSU  Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti.
