Akinwumi lauds GTBank Principals Cup initiative

First Vice President of the Nigeria Football Federation and Chairman of the Lagos State FA, Barrister Seyi Akinwumi has expressed satisfaction with the organisation of this year’s GTBank/Lagos Principals Cup competition which has entered its final stage.

The Lagos FA boss also commended the exceptional display of talent and discipline by the participating schools, remarking that “there has been a lot of improvement recorded.”

Speaking at Onikan Stadium during the semi-final matches, Akinwumi who witnessed some of the teams on display said, “We are quite happy with the schools because there has been less attempts to cheat. They know we don’t tolerate nonsense. They have been keeping to the rules, the quality is higher and we have witnessed tremendous improvement in the standard of play.”

He said the GTBank/Lagos Principals Cup initiative falls in line with the state development programme. “What we can do with the GTB/Principals Cup programme is to harness this into the bigger picture of the NFF development programme.”
