Model Primary school 1V management in Nsukka, Enugu State, is under fire following an alleged imposition of illegal levy of N1, 300 per pupil of the school for the construction of six water closet toilet facilities in the school which ordinarily would be provided by the state government. Following the imposition of the illegal levy on over 600 pupils of the school, Rev Chikamadu Eze has threatened to file a suit against the headmistress, Mrs Ogechukwu Nnamani, if the School Management Base Committee (SMBC) of the primary school fails to stop the  illegal levy imposed on the pupils.

Eze who is the General Overseer, Highway to Grace Assembly, Nsukka, told Vanguard that the levy will increase the burden on the parents who have four to five children in the school and likely to force some out of school among the ones from widows and poor backgrounds.

“If the headmistress  and the committee she set up insists on the levy, I will take them to court. I am fighting for the poor ones.” He said some parents send their children to public school because certificates of public schools are recognized everywhere and also because of the inability of some to pay the exorbitant fees charged by private schools. ‘’The economy bites too hard, some families manage to have food on their table, while some people were busy collecting illegal levy in a public school.”
