The Urhobo Patriotic Alliance, a socio-cultural group in Delta State has condemned the recently held elections in Delta State, describing the entire process as not reflective of the wishes of Deltans.
In a chat with newsmen, Monday, in Effurun, the group, through its Director of Publicity, Mr. Oruru Ariyor, claimed that the elections were completely rigged across the state with areas of small voting strength and low voter turnout recording far higher votes than the more populated parts of the state.
According to Ariyor, “The so-called elections were massively rigged by the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in conjunction with Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, the security services and the military, which unleashed mayhem on the hapless people of the state all in the name of maintaining security while acting out the script of PDP throughout the process they claimed was a credible exercise.”
Accusing the PDP of masterminding what he described as an electoral coup against the All Progressive Congress, APC, he said: “The results certainly cannot be said to be a true reflection of voting patterns across the state.
”The PDP simply wrote results for itself and other parties thereby usurping the role of INEC with the tacit approval of compromised INEC officials. In short the elections were simply sold to PDP as the highest bidder!”
