WARRI—SUSPECTED cultists have killed a member of Udu vigilante, shot another at Owhase just as a dusk-to-dawn curfew was slammed on Aladja over recent cultists’ activities.

Vanguard last week reported that a married woman was raped, and items stolen in a daring attack in the area.

Vanguard gathered that some suspects have been arrested and handed over to the police for prosecution.

Last weekend, suspected cultists killed one Irikefe, a member of Orhuwhorun vigilante and took his gun.

Another vigilante member attached to Ohwase was shot in the leg at New York Junction and his gun stolen.

A source at Aladja said: “A lot of cult members have been arrested at Aladja before and after last week’s attack. The community has emplaced a 12am to 5am curfew after the recent cultists’ attack.

“With that decision, peace and normalcy have returned to the community. It is a decisive action on curbing the menace of cultism with vigilante and youth leaders embarking on street patrols daily and it is yielding immediate results.

“Cultists are now fleeing the town; Aladja has zero tolerance for criminality. So it came as a jolt. The leadership was very sore and they have vowed to deal decisively with anyone caught as a cultist or criminal.”

Vanguard gathered that after the latest killings, the suspected cultists abandoned their operational vehicle, which was suspected to have been stolen. It had been recovered by policemen from Ovwian/Aladja.

At press time, Delta State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Celestina Kalu, could not be reached on phone for comments.
