BENIN—IT was a shouting bout between the Edo State Commissioner for Establishment and Special Duties, Mr. Didi Adodo, who represented Governor Adams Oshiomhole, at the Ayuba Waba faction of the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC state delegate conference and government workers, over unpaid salaries.

The  state government had insisted that it was not owing workers in the state any salary, saying that it had always met its obligations to the workers at the end of every month.

However, Secretary of the Non-Academic Staff Union, NASU of tertiary institutions in Edo State, Mr. Samson Enowonbor, refuted the claim,  insisting that the government was owing the College of Education, Ekiadolor; College of Education Igueben, College of Agriculture Iguoriakhi and Institute of Management Technology, Usen over four months salaries.

This came on the heels of the allegation by the factional President of the NLC, Mr. Joe Ajaero, that the Adulwaheed Umar-led NLC failed to account for the N3 bilion mopped up from workers and retired citizens of Nigeria from the Kriston Lally Housing Scam.
